The 31st Degree Collar Jewel of the Ancient and Accepted Rite under the English Constitution is a masterpiece of Masonic artistry and symbolism. Representing the Sublime Degree of Grand Inspector Inquisitor Commander, this jewel embodies the highest ideals of wisdom, discernment, and moral strength — virtues central to the Masonic path of enlightenment.
Design and Craftsmanship
Expertly crafted in gilt metal, the jewel features the majestic double-headed eagle, crowned and holding both a sword and a sceptre, symbolizing sovereignty over the material and spiritual realms. The eagle is finely detailed with outstretched wings, reflecting vigilance, courage, and dual perception — the ability to see both the temporal and eternal. Behind it radiate golden rays of light, representing divine illumination and the wisdom bestowed upon those who reach this elevated degree.
The jewel is suspended from a distinguished black and white ribbon, the official colour scheme of the 31st Degree under the English Constitution. The contrasting tones serve as a reminder of the eternal balance between light and darkness, good and evil, justice and mercy — the fundamental dualities that the Mason must harmonize within himself.
Symbolism
Each detail of the 31st Degree Jewel is rich in esoteric meaning:
The Double-Headed Eagle represents the unity of opposites, signifying spiritual insight and mastery over both the seen and unseen worlds.
The Crown denotes divine authority and the culmination of spiritual wisdom.
The Sceptre and Sword express the balance of justice and mercy, reminding the wearer that true command comes from righteous action guided by virtue.
The Rays of Glory reflect enlightenment, the divine radiance that guides the Mason on his inward journey to perfection.
Together, these symbols form a profound emblem of spiritual leadership and moral responsibility.

When paired with the full collar, it completes the regalia with elegance, dignity, and reverence for the Craft’s sacred heritage.
Summary
